Course Fee: This course is being offered in conjunction with MWPCA; special rate of $50 for MWPCA members. $100.00 for non-members
Prerequisite: Wastewater Microbiology course or extensive experience with microscopic examination of wastewater samples.
Description: A review of microscopic examination of wastewater and types of microscopes and their use will be covered. A discussion of the currently available filament identification textbooks will be included. An introduction to staining filaments with hands-on staining and examination of filaments for identification will be given. A detailed analysis of filament identification will be presented. The relevance of filament species to process control and troubleshooting will be discussed as well. Students should bring a small sample of mixed liquor from the effluent end of the aeration tank. The sample needs no special care to preserve filaments. Sample is not a requirement of the course. Staining is messy and permanent, dress accordingly!

Cancellation & No Show Policy: If you need to cancel you must contact NEWWTA by writing, fax, mail or email at least seven days prior to the start of the course for you to cancel at no cost. Cancellations received after this time will be charged $50. Substitutions are welcome. Registrants who do not cancel and do not attend will be billed for the full amount
Special Circumstances: Written refund/ credit request will be considered if received within two weeks from the start date of the class. Credit issued will be valid for up to six months * We reserve the right to cancel classes due to weather, illness, insufficient enrollment or other reasons deemed appropriate
